Blair County Conservation District

Wildlife For Everyone Foundation Executive Director Vern Ross worked with the Blair County Conservation District to explain the benefits of stream improvements in the region. An avid fisherman, Ross presented information for a DVD highlighting the outdoors opportunities present in Blair County's streams. Ross stressed the need for stream improvements to strengthen the habitat for trout in waterways. Before the project, trout growth was stymied by shallow waters.

"Vital stream improvements were needed in the area to promote healthy trout growth," Ross said.

Through the improvements, the Conservation District can garner increased interest from tourists attracted to the streams. Ross also noted the benefit for today's youth. He says healthy habitats for trout today also encourage young fisherman to continue participation throughout life.
